No officers injured after Port Elgin man charged with police assault

A 41-year-old Port Elgin man has been charged with assaulting a police officer after a visit from local authorities turned violent.

Saugeen Shores Police say they were responding to a call to a residence in Port Elgin to assistant the individual, when he began threatening them with a five-foot long wooden bannister.

After a brief struggle, the man was taken into custody.

No officers were injured.

The man was released with a future court date.
