Nominations open for municipal elections in Saugeen Shores

The Town of Saugeen Shores announcing that nominations are now open for the upcoming municipal elections for Town Council as well as trustee positions on the Bluewater and Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Boards.

Saugeen Shores Council consists of a mayor, deputy mayor, and vice-deputy mayor, all of which are voted at large.

There are also six councillor seats, two are assigned to each of the three wards. (Port Elgin, Southampton, Saugeen Township)

Nomination forms can be downloaded from the Town’s website.

Completed forms must have the signatures of at least 25 qualified electors as well as the candidate, be accompanied by the applicable filing fee ($200 for Mayor, $100 for other seats), and submitted to the Clerk’s office by Friday, August 19th at 2 PM.

There are also trustee positions open for the French-Language Catholic School Board.

Those who wish to submit a nomination for Conseil scolaire Viamonde should submit their nomination papers to the City of Barrie, for Conseil scolaire Catholique Providence it is the City of Sarnia.

The municipal elections in Ontario is on October 24th.
