Kincardine council has closed the north and south piers of Station Beach and will remain closed until March 1st.
Barriers have been put up to restrict access to the piers.
The call for the closure comes as waves on Lake Huron reaches the highest its been over the past few months.
A new committee, the Pier Safety Ad-Hoc Committee will be set up to review existing data and take part in research who will take their work and bring it to future council meetings for decisions to be made.
