The ongoing Saga of a Raw Milk Producer and their belief that they have the right to produce and sell unpasteurized milk to consumers has taken another turn.

The story goes all the way back to January of 2010 when Michael Schmidt, who is a proponent of unpasteurized raw milk and milk products was acquitted of 19 charges related to the production of the unauthorized products.

The lack of a conviction was due to the operation at the time being a cow-share setup where customers would buy a stake in the cows and resulted in 150 families owning fragmented shares of the farms 26 cows.

The charges under Ontario’s Health Protection and Promotion Act and the Milk Act would be brought back into court a year later and Schmidt would be found guilty of 15 of the 19.

Another court would grant an injunction against his farm, Glencolton Farms in 2018 from selling, delivering or distributing unpasteurized milk or milk products.

This ongoing restriction would lead OMAFRA and the OPP to visit the farm just over a week again on October 27th.

It is not know what the purpose of the visit was. Police later stated they were not there to investigate anything and that officers had no warrants to serve.
