The Ontario Fire Marshal says the province is on track to pass the number of fire related deaths from last year.
Fire Marshal Jon Pegg says there has been 102 fire related deaths reported in Ontario so far, two of which occurred over the Thanksgiving long weekend.
Ontario reported 124 fire deaths in 2021, one of the worst years on record.
Pegg says unattended cooking and careless smoking are the top two causes for house fires.
He recommends people have working smoke alarms as well as have an escape plan to reduce the risk of death.
