A quickly approaching Christmas season means the OPP will be kicking off their Festive Ride Campaign ensuring drivers are staying sober over the holidays.
The campaign kicks off November 16th and runs until January 1st.
Drivers can expected an increased police presence on roads and highways and a series of RIDE programs.
So far this year 18 lives have been lost in alcohol or drug related crashes in the west region with 2000 impaired charges laid.
Between all 13 detachments in the west, OPP have conducted 7170 RIDE checks this year.
