South Bruce OPP is sending a reminder for motorists to be aware they may encounter Golf Cars on selected roads in Huron-Kinloss Township.

In September 2021, the Township enacted a bylaw allowing the vehicles on specific roads.

Anyone planning on operating a Golf Car in the Township of Huron-Kinloss must register it with the Township before using it on a roadway.

Under the 10-year-pilot project, golf cars will be considered vehicles under the Highway Traffic Act and operators will be expected to follow the rules of the road.

Other requirements include the driver must have a driver’s license, only operated where permitted on roads with a maximum speed limit of 50 km, only driver April to November, not capable of driving 32 or faster, and you cannot tow other vehicles.

The full list of requirements for Golf Cars can be found at the Township of Huron-Kinloss website below.
