Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke on Tuesday to confirm reports the Liberal government has come together with the NDP on confidence votes keep the Liberal minority government in power until 2025.
The deal reached between both parties is not a formal coalition but rather what is known as a confidence and supply agreement.
Trudeau says the agreement comes to have mutual interests from both parties and achieve the goals they have set.
“Both parties have identified key policy areas where we share similar objectives. We have agreed to work together to put the needs and interests of Canadians first.” said Trudeau.
Interim Conservative Party Leader Candice Bergen was quick to push back saying the NDP-Liberal coalition is nothing more than an attempt by Trudeau to hold onto power.
