Saugeen Shores Police are investigating what they are calling hate motivated mischief in Port Elgin.

Investigators say several signs and markers along the Saugeen Rail Trail were either spray-painted, damaged, or removed.

They also discovered a utility building on the newly constructed Lamont Sports Park covered in homophobic and racial slurs.

Investigators say both incidents occurred between January 21st and 23rd, and believe the two are connected.

They are currently looking for suspects and anyone with information on this is asked to contact Saugeen Shores Police or Crime Stoppers.
