Huron County OPP have taken part in Project Lifesaver training this month, adding 12 more trained officers in the county.

Project Lifesaver was first introduced in Huron County in 2018, using radio frequency technology to help find individuals who may wander of become lost, typically for those with Alzheimers, Autism, Down Syndrome or have acquired a brain injury or other type of cognitive impairment.

Pre registered clients wear a one ounce transmitter such as a wristwatch which emits a signal and if the person goes missing their caregiver calls 9-1-1 and informs the call taker that they are registered with Project Lifesaver Huron.

Trained OPP officers respond to the client’s last known location and begin searching.
