Province invests $28 million in Pre-Apprenticeship Programs in effort of tackling Ontario’s Skilled Trades Labour Shortage

The Ontario Government announced today that in efforts to expand pre-apprenticeship training in the Province they were increasing the investment to $28 million dollars.

They say that between July and September of last year, 330,000 unfilled jobs were in Ontario with many in the skilled trades.

Pre-apprenticeship training program offer students a free way to combine their classroom training with on-the-job learning and play a cricual role in reducing the labour shortage.

The Province says over the coming weeks they will be finalizing the second round of projects undert the Skills Development Fund.

The previous round saw assistance provided to almost 150 projects, including many focused on the skilled trades, and helped 280,000 people around Ontario take the next step in their careers.
