Provincial Education Minister Stephen Lecce recently announced its first set of regulations following the passage of the Better Schools and Students Outcomes Act.

The measures aim to focus on getting back to the basics of education: strengthening reading, writing and math and other STEM disciplines.

The reforms include mandating that School Boards post details on their educators professional development activities to the Ministry, as well as back to parents.

They will also require reports on how the Boards plan to keep students on track to graduate, with benchmarks at each grade and key indicator requirements on students taking science and math subjects.
