It was a massive year for United Way Bruce Grey’s Backpack Program with record numbers.
With just two weeks to students heading back to school, the program reached 2513 students who all will receive a fully stocked backpack for the school year.
The Backpack Program saw a notable rise in new sign ups this year indicating a need within the community as well as families who have relied on the program for their child since junior kindergarten continue to benefit from the support.
Despite the success, funding continues to be needed with the program costing $90,000 to run with $45,000 being raised so far this year.
