Council for the Township of Huron-Kinloss agreed to waive rental fees for the Ripley-Huron Community Centre so that the Huron Shores Hospice can use the facility for grief recovery meetings.

At a meeting earlier this week, council received a report from Director of Community Services Mike Fair, recommending they waive the fees for the hospice so they can hold their meetings in the building beginning in October.

The meetings provide individuals with the tools to recover and work through the loss of a family member or friend.

Fair’s report noted that while they would lose rental revenue of up to $16 an hour, the meetings would be held on Wednesday afternoons, when the facility is not often rented and already staffed.
