Romance Scam Hits Residents for Over $40,000

A romance scam has costed a Hanover resident over $40,000.

Police were contacted by the victim earlier this week where it was learned the scam happened over several years.

The victim had send VISA gift cards and cryptocurrency through the trust wallet app.

Hanover Police Chief Christopher knoll says scammers will prey on people, tugging on their emotions to take their hard earned money.

The investigation remains ongoing.
