The Saugeen Shores Police sent out an advisory on social media today to make the public aware of a current scam in the area.

They say that Seniors have reported receiving calls from their “grandkids” advising they are in trouble and need bail or bond money.

In this specific incident a grandmother was asked to take out $9,000 cash as her grandson was involved in a serious car accident.

A lawyer named “Larry White” was to make arrangements to attend her address to pick up the money.

They were told not to tell any other family members as it would get the grandson in more trouble. She was told to lie to the bank and tell them she was taking money out for home renovations.

Saugeen Shores Police say to talk to your family about these scams and do not send money. Police will not ask for money for bail or bond.

Police say in this incident the family knew something was suspicious and contacted the police to confirm. No money was lost.

If you are an employee at a Bank please make your coworkers aware of these scams and call police if you believe someone is in need of assistance.
