The Town of Saugeen Shores held a groundbreaking of their new Aquatic & Wellness Centre on Monday.
The event was held alongside its athletic clubs, community groups, residents, and staff.
Town Mayor Luke Charbonneau says he is excited that construction has started on the new, accessible space for fitness, sports, and leisure activities in the community.
The Centre will have a modern accessible aquatic facility, complete with an eight-lane 25-meter pool, gymnasium, fitness studio, conditioning centre, as well as a 3-lane 125 meter walking/running track and common space.
The construction project is being supported by investment from the Town’s Legacy Fund as well as funding being sought from both the federal & provincial governments as well as private fundraising.
