Saugeen Shores could be starring down the barrel of a 4.5 per cent tax increase.
As part of the budget discussions for 2025 continue council is looking at a big picture with a 10 year operating and capital plan to build the town up to 2034.
Mayor Luke Charbonneau says one of the biggest issues they’re trying to tackle for the budget this year is recent cut of provincial funding for the town.
“We’ve had a reduction to our infrastructure funding from the province which will amount to $1.3 million a year by 2029. That’s a big hole we’re trying to figure out how to fill.” said Charbonneau.
Charbonneau adds he is quite optimistic that council will end up in a good place for the town.
