The 2022 Saugeen Shores budget comes with something called a business plan.

Mayor Luke Charbonneau explains that the business plan is different than a strategic plan where it breaks down some of the priorities of this year’s budget.

The business plan was approved along with the final draft budget at Monday’s Council meeting.

It contains 29 major initiatives and 68 different highlights.

Charbonneau says that includes supporting the construction of more affordable and attainable housing, and a new pool.

The plan also outlines the priorities of the Municipality, including managing and supporting growth, improving operational effectiveness and building the community.

Residents of the area can expect an estimated tax increase of 4.5%.

This rate is blended between the Municipality, Bruce County and the School Boards.

The approved budget includes a transfer from the Future Capital Reserve to meet the 4.5% target, while at the same time maintaining service levels and helping achieve growth.

For the average home the increase will mean an additional $186.30.

Full details of both the Budget and Business plan can be found at the Saugeen Shores website below.
