Saugeen Shores Councillor John Rich is stepping away from municipal politics.

He announced at Monday’s Council meeting that is resigning his seat on Council effective Tuesday September 7th.

Rich, who works as a firefighter in Barrie, tells the Shoreline’s Oldies that he is leaving for family and work reasons.

Rich says one of things he is proud of during his last seven years on Council was the progress being made to bring a YMCA facility to Saugeen Shores.

In a news release, Mayor Luke Charbonneau thanked Rich for his time on Council and for serving his community.

Rich’s seat is expected to be declared vacant when Council reconvenes on September 13th.
