Saugeen Shores Police say seniors should stay vigilant for scams

Saugeen Shores Police are warning seniors to be on the alert after several reports of scammers targeting grandparents.

The say these scams can come in many forms but usually involve a grandchild in some legal distress. The caller may tell the potential victim that their grandchild needs money to get out of a predicament, which could involve a vehicle collision or some other offence.

If you receive a call similar to this and are unsure as to the validity of the claim, hang up and call local police. You can also report calls to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
