Saugeen Shores police have hauled in nine firearms from a prohibited man.
Police received a report on Friday at around 2:15pm of a suspected impaired driver around North Rankin Street and Turner Street.
Police were able to spot the man driving his vehicle around the parking lot of a business and during a traffic stop multiple cans of alcohol and a large gun cabinet with an ammo box was seen. A search turned up 9 firearms.
A background check found the man was prohibited from having guns.
As a result the 37 year old from Port Elgin was charged with 9 counts of Possession of Firearms contrary to Prohibition Order, Careless Transportation of a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm and Operation While Impaired.
