Saugeen Shores Police say replica weapons can’t be told apart from real firearms coming from a recent incident from the weekend.
On July 27th at at around 4:45pm, Saugeen Police were called after a report of two people near the Port Elgin main beach with a firearm.
Officers located the two individuals and determined the firearm was just a water gun.
Saugeen Shores Police say the dangers of replica weapons due to some of their appearances to real firearms and officers treat a weapons call as if there is a lethal weapon and poses a risk to public safety.
Police are reminding the public to be responsible when using imitation or air soft weapons.
