The Town of Saugeen Shores announced the reopening and rededication of the new McEwing Bridge.

Members of the McEwing family joined Town Mayor Luke Charbonneau, along with Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson at the ceremony to rededicate it.

The two-lane 34 meter concrete and steel structure spans Mill Creek along Sideroad 18 & 19 and replaced the old single-lane bridge that was constructed in 1930.

Douglas McEwing said the old bridge held many memories for them.

He added that as children they spent Saturdays dangling a fishing line off it and crossed it twice a day for school.

He says he’s grateful to the federal government, province and town for a job well done.
