The Town of Saugeen Shores presented one of its residents, Rob Stanley, with recognition on Monday as being a recipient of the 2023 Senior of the Year Award.

The award was presented alongside Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson.

Among Stanley’s many contributions to the Saugeen Shores community include being involved with Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce and he co-chair the Lamont Sports Park fundraising campaign that has raised over $1.8 million dollars.

He spoke about this honour following the presentation.

“When asked to assist with fundraising from Phase 2 development of the Lamont Sports Park it was an opportunity I could not pass up. It was an honour to serve on the Illuminating Dreams Fundraising Committee. I am humbled to stand before you today. I would like to recognize the entire committee who worked tirelessly to make this dream a reality.”

Mayor Charbonneau said that Stanley has had a lifetime of work on behalf of his community, as a philanthropist, as a volunteer as well as just being an outstanding citizen.

The Lamont Sports Park Grand Opening is on Saturday, June 24th.
