Saugeen Shores is suspending taxi licensing fees as they look towards allowing ride sharing services in town.
On June 24th council approved a recommendation to suspend fee collection for taxi licensing in an effort to remove a barrier for vehicles for hire.
More discussions will be needed to propose ride sharing opportunities across lower tier boundaries without requiring a license for each lower tier municipality.
Mayor Luke Charbonneau says through open discussions with the County and neighbouring municipalities they can hopefully gauge interest in moving forward on reducing regulatory barriers for the vehicle for hire industry for 2025.
