Saugeen Shores council approved Ball Construction as manager for the building of their new Aquatic and Wellness Centre.
The Kitchener-based company previously worked for the town completing renovations to the Southampton Coliseum. They also worked on the Maitland Recreation Centre in Goderich.
The town issued an RFP for construction management services last October and received eight submissions. Ball Construction’s bid won out, offering services for $889,600 plus tax.
Mayor Luke Charbonneau says the company will help keep the project on schedule.
“We’ve already got some good players around the table and now we have another one, and that’s how the public can take confidence that the funding window that we’ve approved is going to be the funding window that we end up spending,” he told council at Monday’s meeting.
“The Town of Saugeen Shores has managed some projects extremely well in recent years where we have been able to come in on time and on budget. We know how to do it and we’re going to do it again.”
Mayor Charbonneau also clarified that the Town has not made a decision on an operating model for the centre yet. That will be determined in the coming weeks at a regular council meeting.
Construction on the Aquatic and Wellness Centre is set to begin this summer.
