Saugeen Shores trying to facilitate creation of Additional Residential Units

The Town of Saugeen Shores amended its Official Plan and Zoning By-law recently to try and increase their supply of housing.

The town has increased the number of Additional Residential Units (ARUs) that can be constructed on a property to three. ARUs are self-contained residences with kitchen and bathroom facilities, on a property already containing a single-detached house, semi-detached house or townhouse.

“These changes give us another tool to help solve our current housing ‘crunch’,” says Saugeen Shores Mayor Luke Charbonneau in a release. “We will continue to look for ways to leverage our growth so we can make Saugeen Shores a place where everyone can find a place to live.”
