It’s been a busy week for municipalities across Ontario who traveled to Ottawa this week to attend the annual Association of Municipalities of Ontario Conference.
The annual conference allowed for muncipalites to mingle but also advocate to the provincial government on issues both local and seen across Ontario.
Saugeen Shores was among those in attendance and while Mayor Luke Charbonneau was not able to make it, there were representatives speaking for Saugeen Shores. Charbonneau says they highlighted on many topics locally.
“Things like looking for funding for our new aquatics and wellness centre, the Pioneer Cemetery in Southampton which is a critical issue we are trying to get support for, getting broadband internet and making sure we have fiber optic connections rather than wireless connections. We’re advocating on all sorts of important local issues.” said Charbonneau.
Bigger issues such as housing and homelessness was also brought up being addressed locally, provincial and nationally.
