The South Bruce OPP raised the pride flag at its Kincardine detachment yesterday in honour of pride month in June.
Police thanked Kincardine Pride for joining them in the occasion.
Pride Month traces its history back to the inaugural pride celebration in Toronto following the decriminalization of same-sex in 1969.
The milestone marked the beginning of the movement that saw the inclusion of sexual orientation in the Ontario Human Rights Code in 1987 and the Canadian Human Rights act in 1996.
Kincardine Pride is set for their Pride Parade & Celebration on Saturday, June 24th.
Huron County Pride’s event is on Saturday, June 10th in Downtown Goderich.
