South Bruce OPP shares Internet Safety Tips for Parents

With the summer here & kids spending more time at home and possibly in front of the computer, there are discussions to have that can keep them safe online.

With the summer here and kids spending more time at home and possibly in front of the computer, the South Bruce OPP shared some internet safety tips for parents.

The suggest creating a list of Internet house rules with your teens.

They include the kinds and types of sites that are off-limits, keeping internet computers in an open area of the house, talking to them about online friends & activities like any other activity, and encouraging them to use monitored chat rooms.

Key items such as keeping personal information private, encouraging discussion on messages if they ever feel threatened or uncomfortable & about the risk of intimate images should be discussed as well as directing them to good sites about health and sexuality.
