The South Bruce OPP are asking residents to be on the lookout for cons and scams over the holidays after 2 recent reports of successful scams in South Bruce.
The scams cost one Huron-Kinloss resident $8,000 after a scammer identified themselves as a police officer and collected so called money to help a grandchild. The second in Kincardine saw $9,000 taken to a scam involving a fake online currency transaction.
Police say to remember that tech-savvy con artists can create vary convincing scams to trick you into giving them money. They can even pretend to work for an established, well-known business or even branch of the government.
They often have some basic information about you before they call.
