The Town of South Bruce Peninsula is set to vote on the by-law to appoint their Deputy Mayor Jay Kirkland to the vacant seat of Mayor on Council.

It has been vacant since the resignation of Garry Michi on September 5th.

This would leave the Deputy Mayor’s role vacant, and a similar decision needs to be made for that role in the future as well.

The Council is also set to hear a delegation on the topic from resident Bryon Downs.

He is set to speak on why he thinks a by-election or community meeting should be held so the public can have their say on who they wish to represent them as Mayor.

The Council meeting is this morning at 9am.
