The Tanner Steffler Foundation is set to hold its re-scheduled “Let’s Get Real: Conversations” event on Wednesday.

The event from 6:30 to 9:30 pm at Libro Hall at Eastlink Arena will be a night of sharing stories & building connections with youth and their families from Huron and Perth to speak about their experiences and journies through mental health and addiction.

There will be panel discussions on suicide, depression, anxiety, addiction, substance use disorder, and also talks on homelessness and poverty.

Youth Peer Councillor Cathy Greidanus says its been tough for youth over the past few years.

“Homelessness is such a big issue. If you are under 16 there is absolutely no where you can go if you become homeless. And if it’s not winter. Huron Out of the Cold is a great program but if it’s not winter there is not really anywhere to go if you are homeless.”

A key aspect says Cathy is the fact that sometimes hearing someone going through a similar situation will offer the inspiration and encouragement to seek out help for others.
