Tiverton resident heading to World Plowing Championship in Latvia in October

Tom Evans won the Canadian Championships at Rivers Manitoba in May of last year and has been preparing to represent Canada at the international event this fall.

A local Tiverton resident is preparing to head to Kuldiga, Latvia to take part in the 2023 World Plowing Championships on October 13th and 14th.

Tom Evans won the Canadian Championships at Rivers Manitoba in May of last year and has been preparing to represent Canada at the international event this fall.

Tom will be competing in the reversible plowing category for the 3rd time, having previously competed in Kenya in 2017 and the US in 2019.

Joining him on the trip is teammate Brian Davenport of Owen Sound who will be competing in the conventional plowing category.

Brian represented Canada for the first time last year in Ireland.

There is a fundraising event on May 13th at the Underwood-Bruce Township Community Centre.

It features dinner, speeches and silent and live auctions.

Doors open at 5:30 and dinner begins at 6.

Admission is by donation.
