Transgender flag flies in Kincardine to mark Day of Remembrance

Kincardine Pride are flying the transgender flag over the municipality for the next week, in honour of those who have lost their lives to transphobic violence.

The Transgender Day of Remembrance is marked this Sunday, Nov. 20 to commemorates the trans, two-spirit, and non-binary people who have been lost to transphobia. The day was first started in 1999 Allston, Massachussetts.

The transgender flag will fly at Municipality of Kincardine’s community flagpole at the Bruce County Library from today until next Friday, Nov. 25. The municipality encourages those looking to learn more or show their support for the community, to visit www.glaad.org/tdor or www.kincardine.ca/Recognizing-Diversity.
