Police in Owen Sound conducting a RIDE check ended up recovering a stolen vehicle.
A 2019 Hyundai Elantra sped through a RIDE check on 14th Street West Saturday afternoon around 5 and ended up crashing into a snowbank at the end of the dead-end street.
Both the driver and passenger fled on foot but were apprehended a short time later.
An investigation revealed that the vehicle was reported stolen from the Guelph area, and that the driver was wanted on outstanding charges in Guelph and Wellington County.
It was also determined that the driver was found to be impaired by drugs.
The 27-year-old female was detained and had a court appearance Sunday in Owen Sound.
No word on charges for the male passenger of the vehicle.
