The Four County Labour Market Planning Board just released their employment data for the Stratford-Bruce Peninsula Economic Region for June and it shows the unemployment rate fell by 1.4 last month.

This leaves it sitting at 4.5%.

Provincially the rate increased by 0.1% to 5.5%.

The percentage of those working in the job force decreased 0.9% to sit at 60.6%.

In terms of job gains last month the only sector that was up was construction at 1,300 positions.

This was more than offset by losses in goods-producing, agriculture, manufacturing, and Utility sectors with the latter having the biggest loss at 1,000 employees.

Service producing sectors ended the month up.

Of the 1,700 employee increase; the largest was Accommodations & Food Services at 1,600.

This more than offset losses in Transportation & Warehousing, Educational Services and Health Care & Social Assistance.
