Unifor and General Motors have reached a tentative agreement following strike action at the Oshawa Assembly Plant, St. Catharines Powertrain Plant and the Woodstock Parts Distribution Centre.

Unifor National President Lana Payne says the solidarity of their members led to the comprehensive tentative agreement that follows the pattern set at Ford to the letter, including all items the company had initial fought them on including pensions, retiree income supports and converting part-time workers into permanent over the life of the agreement.

The new tentative agreement covers almost 4,300 workers at Unifor locals 222, 199 and 636.

Strike action is now on hold to allow the membership to vote on the tentative agreement.
