Vehicle crashes into cruiser, results in impaired driving and drug trafficking charges

An Owen Sound man is facing charges after a chain-reaction crash involving an OPP cruiser.

An OPP officer was assisting a disabled vehicle on Highway 21 in Central Huron on December 23rd around 12:30 PM when an oncoming sport utility vehicle rear-ended the cruiser.

The impact of the collision sent the cruiser into the disabled vehicle.

Neither the officer nor to the occupants of the disabled vehicle were hurt.

The driver of the SUV was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries.

An investigation determined that the driver was impaired and was in possession of suspected cocaine, magic mushrooms, and cannabis.

The 53-year-old was arrested and later released with a February 7th court date in Goderich.
