A demonstration was held in Teeswater over the weekend.

Close to a hundred walked the streets on Saturday to protest the proposed deep geological repository that would be used to store used nuclear fuel.

There is a petition out to have the location of the DGR be put out as a referendum in next year’s municipal elections.

The Nuclear Waste Management Organization, the group looking to build the DGR, has indicated that a DGR would only be built if there is willingness by the host community.

South Bruce is one of two communities being considered, the other is in Ignace.
