A Morris-Turnberry resident faces charges for careless driving after she and her puppy had a ruff ride over the weekend.

Just after 11:15 a.m. on Jan. 15, Huron County OPP responded to a single-vehicle collision involving an SUV on Howick-Turnberry Road outside of Wingham.

Their investigation revealed that the lone female driver was holding her puppy while driving, and when the dog fell into the driver’s side wheel well area she lost control of the vehicle and entered a ditch, rolling the SUV.

The driver received minor injuries, was transported to Wingham hospital and later released. The puppy was reportedly uninjured.

The 35-year-old driver from Morris-Turnberry has been charged with careless driving.

The Huron OPP would like to remind the public that any animals, persons, or property should be secured and not interfere with the proper management or control of the motor vehicle.
