Working Smoke Alarms Prevents Injuries in Wingham Fire

A fire in Wingham last Friday morning has been treated as not suspicious by officials and its thanks to working smoke alarms which kept injuries off the table.

Around 30 firefighters and 7 apparatus’ responded to the call on November 3rd at around 4am.

Two occupants inside the residence were able to get out through a bedroom window after they were alerted by the smoke alarms which led to no injuries being reported in the fire.

An electrical appliance in the basement has been ruled as the cause of the fire with damage estimated at $200,000.
