28-Year-old Central Huron driver charged with Drunk Driving after approaching Officer at Unrelated Collision Scene

Incident occurred January 6th around 6pm on Base Line. A section was closed due but driver drove around closure to speak to officer.

The Huron County OPP have charged a 28-year-old male of Central Huron after they approached an unrelated collision scene to speak with officers.

The incident occurred on January 6th around 6pm on Base Line. A section was closed to protect the scene of a collision.

The driver, driving around the road closure sign, approaching the officer to speak with them. It was then detected that the driver had the odour of an alcoholic beverage.

A subsequent roadside test was undertaken, which they failed, and were placed under arrest.

Following two breath samples taken at the Clinton detatchment the driver was charged with impaired driving 80 plus.

The involved vehicle was impounded for 7 days and the driver’s license suspended for 90 days.

The accused is set to appear before a Goderich court on January 30th.
