The Municipalities of Arran-Elderslie, Brockton and West Grey have put a call out to the Provincial Government for more support for rural health care.

In the letter they cite the longstanding & increasing closures of local emergency departments in Chesley, Walkerton and Durham for the call for more support to immediately address the chronic staffing shortages and corresponding community impacts.

Brockton Mayor Chris Peabody says their municipalities have brought this matter to the attention of the province time and time again but add it’s a time for solutions and actions to protect their exceptional and essential rural healthcare.

All three mayors are calling on the Minister of Health and their local MPPs to meet with them to collaborate to address the crisis and find solutions.
