The proposed Cedar Crescent Village is being relocated.

The developers had proposed to build along the Port Elgin waterfront but have now decided to build it close to Harbour Street on the east side of the beach.

Mayor Luke Charbonneau says this is to comply with Saugeen Valley Conservation regulations.

The changes were given provisional approval by Saugeen Shores Council at Monday’s Committee of the Whole meeting.

Charbonneau says it will now be a much smaller design but will still have plenty of rental space for retail.

The process now waits for the Town permit approval for the project with Phase 1 of the Village expected to open in May of next year.
