The Town of Goderich rescinded their mandatory COVID vaccine policy for all employees at this week’s council meeting.
The town’s mandatory vaccine policy went into effect on Dec. 13, 2021.
The recommendation to remove the policy was brought forward by CAO Janice Hallahan, citing remarks made in March by Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Kieran Moore, who said “the highest risk is behind us and that the need for vaccination policies is no longer necessary.”
Hallahan’s memo acknowledged staff still need to do our part to protect themselves and others, especially during respiratory illness season, and said she was proud of the Town for putting the safety of their staff, volunteers and contractors first during the pandemic.
The motion wasn’t discussed by council.
