The Municipality of Kincardine has approved a motion by Ward 3 Councillor Amanda Steinhoff-Gray to confirm various elements of water safety at Station Beach.
The recommendations were included in a report prepared back in June 2016 and include a no swimming zone 100 m south of the South Pier and 100m north of the North Pier with related signage.
A recommended swimming area was also indicated and was to be marked by signs, beach flags and buoy markets.
Rip Current Safety signage was also recommended in the area.
Staff is also completing an assessment on the Piers on any possible upgrades to ladders, including possible extensions, upgrades to signage on Lifesaving Stations, repairs to spalling damage to the concrete decks of the pier and the painting of a 100mm yellow strip along the perimeter of both piers for enhances visibility.
The report is due back by the end of the year.
