Bonnie Crombie has been declared as the next leader of the Ontario Liberal Party.

The Mayor of Mississauga and former Liberal MP won after three rounds of ballots who will compete against Doug Ford in the next provincial election in 2026.

Crombie beat out Nate Erskine-Smith, Yasir Naqvi and Ted Hsu for the leader victory.

The Liberals say the leadership saw the candidates sign up a record number of new members with more than 100,000 people eligible to vote for the new leader, up from 44,000 and 38,000 in the last leadership contests.
