The Huron & Area Search and Rescue kept busy over the past weekend with cold water training in the area.

Members entered water in life jackets or PFDS to get experience cold water shock and train to survive in the event they fall in.

Patrick Armstrong, HASAR Commander says his team is well equipped when it comes to working in cold water.

“We wear proper dry suits and all of our members are trained, they hold a Canadian certification for ice rescue and they are updated every 24 months and we do pretty extensive training all the time.” said Armstrong

Huron & Area Search and Rescue is also gearing up for the county’s Polar Plunge event.

Residents are encouraged register and take part whether it be by getting into the water themselves or by donating to sponsor someone who will be taking the plunge.
